Acid‐Promoted Polarity Switch Enables Efficient Radical Polymerization of Vinyl Ethyl Sulfide

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Acid‐induced polarity switching activates electron‐rich vinyl ethyl sulfide toward radical formation and enables efficient free‐radical propagation, and polymers with monomodal molecular‐weight distributions using either strong or weak acids. ABSTRACT Herein, we report a new concept for the polymerization of electron‐rich vinyl sulfides based on an ...

Balancing Chain Transfer Agent Transport and Reaction in Emulsion Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
The interrelationship between chain transfer agent mass transfer and reaction in emulsion polymerization is examined. Three parameters describing these phenomena are proposed. The probability of mass transfer‐ rather than reaction‐limitation for each CTA‐monomer pair is assessed.

Effect of Carbon Nanotubes Incorporation on the Properties of a Photopolymer Resin Used in Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Preparation and experimental results of carbon nanotube/photopolymer resin nanocomposites fabricated by 3D printing. ABSTRACT This work examines the effect of the incorporation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into a photopolymer resin for the fabrication of nanocomposites via additive manufacturing (AM), using the masked stereolithography technique (MSLA ...

Diverse reactivity of maleimides in polymer science and beyond

open access: yesPolymer International, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 296-306, April 2025.
This mini‐review provides a thorough overview of maleimide chemistry, highlighting its diverse reactivity in polymer and materials science applications. Abstract Maleimides are remarkably versatile functional groups, capable of participating in homo‐ and copolymerizations, Diels–Alder and (photo)cycloadditions, Michael additions, and other reactions ...

Characteristics, properties and limitations of per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and fluoropolymers

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
An overview and categorization of man‐made per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) including low‐molar‐mass and high‐molar‐mass fluorochemicals, and their international regulations is presented. Though certain PFASs are toxic, bioaccumulative and cross the human cellular membranes, others, such as fluoropolymers, are safe, reliable and involved in ...
