Farming System and Nematodes Affect the Rhizosphere Microbiome of Tropical Banana Plants
The banana crops showed a core microbiome of 77 ASV, mostly belonging to Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Bacilli. Specific groups of bacteria and fungi were linked to each nematode species or feeding group, with a core microbiome of correlated taxa found only when considering nematodes by feeding groups.

Abstract Meteorites are easily contaminated at the Earth's surface by microbial activity. Here, DNA extracts from two meteorite specimens and samples from curation laboratory surfaces are analyzed with amplicon sequencing, to understand microbial communities that contaminate meteorites and that may be resident in curation facilities.

Development of microbial community in the course of composting of garden waste
Composting represents one of the technologies of processing of biodegradable municipal waste. Samples collected from composting plants were analyzed chemically, physically and microbiologically. The pH of bio waste samples increased from 6.5 to 8.6.

Evaluation of the microbiome of decaying alder nodules by next generation sequencing [PDF]
This work investigated the microbial content of decaying nodules from alders. The 16S rDNA composition of the microbiome of six senescent alder nodules was investigated by 454 sequencing.

Biosynthesis of Ergothioneine and Hercynine by Fungi and Actinomycetales [PDF]
Unlike other bacteria, aerobic members of the order Actinomycetales show a close biochemical relationship to the fungi by their capacity to synthesize hercynine and ergothioneine. The myxomycete Physarum polycephalum , possessing the same synthetic ability, also shows this relationship ...

Multisubstrate Isotope Labeling and Metagenomic Analysis of Active Soil Bacterial Communities
Soil microbial diversity represents the largest global reservoir of novel microorganisms and enzymes. In this study, we coupled functional metagenomics and DNA stable-isotope probing (DNA-SIP) using multiple plant-derived carbon substrates and diverse ...
