Gene‐Informed Modeling of Denitrification Process in Groundwater Through Dynamic Flux Balance Analysis and Deep Learning

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We introduce two gene‐informed approaches that, for the first time, explicitly incorporate microbial genomic information into groundwater denitrification simulations. First, we couple the dynamic flux balance analysis (DFBA, which resolves genome‐resolved metabolic networks) with the PFLOTRAN reactive transport model (RTM).

Telemedicine in epilepsy care: A Nationwide survey by the Italian Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy (LICE) on adoption, barriers, and perceived value

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 516-526, April 2026.
Abstract Objective Telemedicine can improve access and continuity of care for people with epilepsy (PwE), but its adoption across Italian epilepsy centers remains inadequately characterized. We conducted a nationwide cross‐sectional survey of all 75 epilepsy centers certified by the Italian Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy (Lega ...

Exploring the Transferability of Image‐Based Algorithms for River Plastic Detection: The Value of Small Mixed Data Sets

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Using large image data sets has been the conventional strategy to improve object detection, but it increases annotation effort and training cost and does not guarantee robust transfer to new sites. Here we quantify the value of a small, diverse training set for floating macroplastic detection by jointly evaluating performance, computational ...

The Relevance of Law to Sovereign Debt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The literature on sovereign debt treats law as of marginal significance, largely because the doctrine of sovereign immunity leaves creditors few potent legal remedies against sovereign borrowers.

A novel experimental platform to monitor solid/water interfaces under freeze–thaw cycles

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 302, Issue 1, Page 92-99, April 2026.
Abstract We design and implement an original experimental platform resting on Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to capture nanoscale insights into key characteristics of solid/water interfaces subject to freeze–thaw conditions. The work is motivated by the observation that freezing and thawing underpin a variety of processes in the context of, e.g ...
