2020This chapter reviews the different origins and theoretical foundations of collaborative staging of design and innovation. Action theory as a resource for decision theory
Theory and Decision, 1986Many problems in decision theory intersect problems in action theory. But although this is widely realized, the connections between the two fields have rarely been systematically discussed in the literature. This essay will attempt to articulate some of those connections and a number of important problems they raise.

On Descent Theory for Monoid Actions
Applied Categorical Structures, 2004The paper contains some sufficient conditions for a monoid homomorphism to be an effective descent morphism. If \(f:R\to S\) is a monoid homomorphism such that \(S_R\) is equalizer flat and \(r\) is left invertible whenever \(f(r)\) is left invertible for every \(r\in R\), then \(f\) is an effective descent morphism (Proposition 2.3).

When it comes to battling new competitors and protecting their margins, large, established companies tend to use the same arsenal of strategies. They cut costs, introduce new products, diversify their offerings, and accelerate their speed to market. But all too often, corporate strategists overlook one of their best weapons: improved pricing strategies.

Abstract On the face of it, it seems improbable that there is any such thing as the Marxist theory of action. Marxists have always laid claim to a uniquely privileged understanding of society through their possession of a body of theory which by its singular unity transcends the artificial specialism of the ‘bourgeois’ social sciences.

Most mental health and primary care clinicians have been trained in the medical model or at least influenced by it. The medical model maintains that health is a symptom-free state. It teaches that symptoms can be matched to a disease, which must then be treated until eradicated.

The first part of this chapter is concerned with three rival theories of action. Each theory conceives of an action as an event or process in time, or as an aggregate of such events and processes; and each conceives of an action as adequately individuated by virtue of its causes and effects. I shall argue that, if a metaphysical commitment to events is

Profitability as a measure of performance just doesn't cut it any more. On Wall Street these days, it's not good enough to know a company earned money. Instead, the focus is shifting to the quantifiable monetary value that is created for shareholders.
