Voltammetric studies of glassy carbon electrodes activated in air and steam
Carbon, 1992Abstract Polished glassy carbon electrodes were activated in either air at 400°–800°C or steam at 790°–980°C. Square wave voltammetry of air-activated electrodes in McIlvaine buffer revealed the presence of a significant surface redox couple. Nernst plots of the peak potential vs. pH gave an average slope of — 75 ± 2 mV.

Several reports in the literature deal with the modification of glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface via electropolymerization of some organic monomers, particularly p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid (p-ABSA) and l-cysteine using intensive oxidative conditions, and attributed the improved electrocatalytic activities toward various analytes to the formation ...

Glassy carbon electrodes: I. Characterization and electrochemical activation
2001Electrochemical properties of glassy carbon electrodes of two types were examined, one thermally treated at 1000°C (sample K) and another thermally treated at 2500° (sample G). Mechanically polished or electrochemically polarized electrodes were characterized in NaOH, HClO 4 and H 2 SO 4 solutions by cyclic voltammetry (cv) at different sweep rates in ...

Adsorption of some quinone derivatives at electrochemically activated glassy carbon electrodes
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2004The adsorption interactions between different quinone derivatives at electrochemically activated glassy carbon have been studied. Experimental results demonstrated that there were two different types of adsorption sites present at the activated electrode surface.

Selective Determination of Vitamin B2 at Electrochemically Activated Glassy Carbon Electrode
Electroanalysis, 2000Electrochemically activated glassy carbon electrodes were applied to the preconcentration and electroanalysis of Vitamin B2 (VB2) in multivitamin preparation. Voltammetric peak currents resulting from VB2 species adsorbed on activated electrodes showed linear response for VB2 concentrations in the range between 0.1 and 3.0 µM with a large slope of 12.2

Electrochemical Study of Catechol and Hydroquinone Using Activated Glassy Carbon Electrodes
Analytical Letters, 1987Abstract Glassy carbon electrodes polished with some ceramics particles(TiB2 SiC and TiC) show activation for the oxidation and reduction of catechol and hydroquinone. The activation was found to depend on the hardness of glassy carbon and ceramic particles.
