Hand Clinics, 2003
This article discusses the use of prostheses in general and more specifically what can be done for the patient with injuries through the hand and carpal region. Although the article is titled Functional prostheses, the author focuses on actively controlled devices.

Dynamical activation of function in metalloenzymes
FEBS Letters, 2022Formulations of hydrogen tunneling in enzyme‐catalysed C–H activation reactions indicate enthalpic barriers to reaction that are independent of chemical steps and dependent on the protein scaffold. A tool to identify catalytically relevant site‐specific protein thermal networks has emerged from temperature‐dependent hydrogen deuterium exchange (TDHDX).

Activating and inhibitory functions of DAP12
Nature Reviews Immunology, 2007When associated with different receptors, the signalling adaptor DAP12 has been shown to both potentiate and attenuate the activation of leukocytes. But how can a protein with a single signalling motif elicit qualitatively different cellular responses?

Respiratory function in active firefighters
American Journal of Industrial Medicine, 2001AbstractBackgroundExposure to environmental pollution during firefighting may results in the development of respiratory disorders in firefighters.MethodsThe health effects of firefighting on respiratory function was investigated in a group of 128 active firefighters by recording respiratory symptoms and measuring lung function.

Multivariate activation functions
International Journal of Wavelets, Multiresolution and Information ProcessingActivation functions are critical components in neural network architectures, significantly influencing model performance and learning efficiency. While traditional univariate activation functions have been extensively studied and optimized, the exploration of multidimensional (multivariate) activation functions remains relatively nascent.

On the plasminogen-activating function of streptokinase
International Journal of Biochemistry, 19921. Several hypotheses have been advanced to explain the activating function of streptokinase. The predominant hypothesis suggests a stable equimolar streptokinase-plasmin(ogen) complex, activating free plasminogen by an active centre, which is located in the plasmin(ogen) part of the complex. 2.
