Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Modeling of Growth via Active Contour Models
We analyze the growth of biological specimens with the help of Active Contour Models known as Snakes. The Active Contour Model tracks the boundary of an object as it changes shape and can also predict how the object might change shape.

Machine Vision Techniques for the Evaluation of Animal Behaviour [PDF]
Over the last few decades the nature of farming has changed dramatically with small labour intensive farms being replaced by large, highly automated farms. With this change in the way things are done comes a new concern for animal welfare.

A Survey of SOM-Based Active Contour Models for Image Segmentation
Self Organizing Maps (SOMs) have attracted the attention of many computer vision scientists, particularly when dealing with image segmentation as a contour extraction problem.

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Skeletal Growth Estimation Using Radiographic Image Processing and Analysis
An automated knowledge-based vision system for skeletal growth estimation in children is reported in this paper. Images were obtained from hand radiographs of 32 male and 25 female children of age 1–16 yr.

Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

An integrated approach for object shape registration and modeling [PDF]
In this paper, an integrated approach to fast and efficient construction of statistical shape models is proposed that is a potentially useful tool in Information Retrieval(IR).

This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
