A Contour Extraction Method using Active Contour Model on Ultrasonic Images

At excision operations of a breast tumor, a navigation to display three-dimensional models during the operations is demanded to grasp a position and a size of the tumor, and to decide an area of the excision. Speckle noises which are characteristic of an ultrasonic image are caused by interference of sound waves.

Improvement of contour extraction precision of active contour model with structuring elements

Nonlocal active contour model for texture segmentation

Texture segmentation is a very important subject in the fields of computer vision. In order to segment the textures, active contour model based on nonlocal means method and tikhonov regularization is proposed. In detail, a new nonlocal tikhonov regularization smoothness term is added. The nonlocal operator is based on the image slice similarity.

A dike detection method based on active contour model is introduced in this paper for our flood management project. Experimental result on DEM (Digital Elevation Model) of Jingjiang River of China shows that a continuous and closed dike description could be gotten by this method.

Instead of generating a single molecular surface, we create a series of surfaces associated with the atomic energy inside the protein, which describe different resolutions of molecular surface.

An active contour model has been widely applied to image segmentation and analysis. A contour model is able to be deformed to fit to an expected object based on an energy minimization.
