Interactive binary active contours for prostate contour delineation
2012 IEEE 12th International Conference on Bioinformatics & Bioengineering (BIBE), 2012We present a new interactive segmentation framework to delineate the prostate from MR images. We first explicitly address the segmentation problem based on fast globally Finsler Active Contours (FAC) by incorporating both statistical and geometric shape prior knowledge.

Contour tracking via on-line discriminative active contours
2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2014This paper presents a novel on-line AdaBoost based discriminative active contour tracking framework (ADACT) using level sets. First we build an on-line AdaBoost based appearance model to track and extract the rough target region, which provides important discriminative clues for our active contour model.

Adaptive potential active contours
Pattern Analysis and Applications, 2011In this paper potential active contours are presented as a new method of image segmentation. The concept of potential contour is a result of the relationship between active contour techniques and the methods of classifiers’ construction. The proposed method can be extended by the adaptation mechanism that allows changing the available class of the ...

Active contours for cell tracking
Proceedings Fifth IEEE Southwest Symposium on Image Analysis and Interpretation, 2003This paper introduces an active contour or snake-based method for tracking cells within a video sequence. Specifically, we apply our cell tracking techniques to rolling leukocytes observed in vivo (in living animal) from video microscopy. The analysis of leukocyte motion reveals cues about the mechanism of inflammatory disease. To attack the problem of

TAC: Thresholding active contours
2008 15th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2008In this paper, we describe a region-based active contour technique to perform image segmentation. We propose an energy functional that realizes an explicit trade-off between the (current) image segmentation obtained from a curve and the (implied) segmentation obtained from dynamically thresholding the image.

Active contour on the basis of inertia
Proceedings of the 2004 ACM symposium on Applied computing, 2004This paper present a method for image segmentation, which is an adaptation of the classical active contours algorithm, also called "snakes", using a new internal energy approach. The classical model computes the energy function based on changes in gradient values, thus determining the detection of the object's edges.

2011 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE 2011), 2011
This paper presents a Fuzzy Active Contour Model for image segmentation using three variations. The proposed models are based on the Fuzzy Energy-Based Active Contour model introduced by Krinidis and Chatzis. First, an update criteria that changes only localized membership values at each iteration is introduced.

We introduce an algorithm for active contour segmentation in which the level set function encoding the contour is processed by median filtering using morphological amoebas. These are adaptive structure elements introduced by Lerallut et al. which can be combined with different morphological operations.

A fast algorithm for active contours
[1990] Proceedings Third International Conference on Computer Vision, 2002A method of controlling snakes that combines speed, flexibility, and simplicity is presented. It is compared to the original variational calculus method of M. Kass et al. (1987) and the dynamic programming method developed by A.A. Amini et al. (1988) and found to be comparable in final results, while being faster than dynamic programming and more ...

Convergence analysis of active contours
Image and Vision Computing, 2008Active contours are very useful tools in image segmentation and object tracking in video sequences. The practical implementations are built with an iterative algorithm based on a second order system defined in the spatial domain, where the elasticity and rigidity are the static parameters for its characterization and mass and damping are the dynamic ...
