A general framework to link theory and empirics in opinion formation models

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We introduce a minimal opinion formation model that is quite flexible and can reproduce a wide variety of the existing micro-influence assumptions and models. The model can be easily calibrated on real data, upon which it imposes only a few requirements.

Phosphorylase: control and activity

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1981
Abstract Recent results from the crystallographic studies on glycogen phosphorylase b at 3 A resolution are reviewed with special reference to other themes of the meeting. The structural similarity of the fold of 150 residues in phosphorylase to that observed in lactate dehydrogenase is discussed and the binding sites for NADH in ...

Angstrom-Scale Active Width Control of Nano Slits for Variable Plasmonic Cavity

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Nanogap slits can operate as a plasmonic Fabry–Perot cavity in the visible and infrared ranges due to the gap plasmon with an increased wavenumber. Although the properties of gap plasmon are highly dependent on the gap width, active width tuning of the ...

Active Control With an Isoluminant Display [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics - Part A: Systems and Humans, 2006
Humans perceive isoluminant visual stimuli (i.e., stimuli that show little or no luminance variation across space) to move more slowly than their luminance-defined counterparts. To explore whether impaired motion perception at isoluminance also affects visuomotor control tasks, the authors examined the performance as humans actively controlled a moving

Corporate Control Activism

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2015
We identify a commitment problem that prevents bidders from unseating resisting and entrenched incumbent directors of target companies through proxy fights. We discuss potential solutions and argue that activist investors are more resilient to this commitment problem and can mitigate the resulting inefficiencies by putting such companies into play ...
