Optimal operation of active distribution networks with Distributed Energy Storage
2012 IEEE International Energy Conference and Exhibition (ENERGYCON), 2012The main goal of active distribution network operation is the minimization of system cost given by the sum of the costs of energy losses, curtailed energy, reactive support, shed energy, and storage operation. The paper focuses on the use of Distributed Energy Storage, showing that suitable OPF algorithms embedded in the Distribution Management System ...

Active distributed RC networks
IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 1968This correspondence describes an active-feedback distributed RC (R~C~) network that provides sharp-cutoff low-pass characteristics using a single controlled voltage source. The network, simulated on a digital computer, provides sharp low-pass frequency characteristics similar to those of more complex discrete active RC networks.

Active voltage control using distributed generation on distribution networks
2013 IEEE Grenoble Conference, 2013The increase of integration of distributed generations (DG) requires the network management to be more active. This paper investigates an active voltage control approach by coordinating the reactive power of DG and the operation of onload tap changer (OLTC).

Holistic view of active distribution network and evolution of distribution automation
IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies, Europe, 2014Active network management of distribution networks has been proposed to enhance the reliability of network and the hosting capacity for renewable energy sources. Traditional distribution automation solutions are not scalable enough to utilize large-scale distributed energy resources in network management.

Joint multistage expansion planning of active distribution network (ADN) is well investigated in this paper. This expansion model considers the effects of optimal operating conditions in the planning studies. In the proposed model, for each planning time stage, several operating scenarios are defined based on operational status of the network.

Measurement data aggregation for active distribution networks
2013 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS), 2013Power Quality indicators are still conveyed into a classical paradigm of power systems where the steady state operation is governed by quasi-constant frequency. Moreover, distribution grids are considered as network structures with solely load behavior.

CDS: a code distribution scheme for active networks
Computer Communications, 2004Active networking may process packets in a customized way by injecting active programs into network elements. How to deliver active codes to a network node to perform customized computation on packets is quite important and essential in active networks (ANs).
