Mode-coupling theory for the steady-state dynamics of active Brownian particles

open access: yes, 2019
We present a theory for the steady-state dynamics of a two-dimensional system of spherically symmetric active Brownian particles. The derivation of the theory consists of two steps.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Integrating active demand into the distribution system using metaheuristic techniques

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering
Integrating non‐conventional renewable energy sources into distribution systems, alongside data science and enabling technological infrastructures, presents significant challenges, particularly in managing active demand.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Tracer Dispersion in a Self-Organized Critical System

open access: yes, 1996
We have studied experimentally transport properties in a slowly driven granular system which recently was shown to display self-organized criticality [Frette {\em et al., Nature} {\bf 379}, 49 (1996)].

Complete active-reactive power resource scheduling of smart distribution system with high penetration of distributed energy resources

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2017
In traditional power systems, besides the conventional power plants that provide the necessary reactive power in transmission system, the shunt capacitors along with the tap changers of transformers are also employed in distribution networks.

Unbounded autocatalytic growth on diffusive substrate: the extinction transition

open access: yes, 2006
The effect of diffusively correlated spatial fluctuations on the proliferation-extinction transition of autocatalytic agents is investigated numerically. Reactants adaptation to spatio-temporal active regions is shown to lead to proliferation even if the

Distributed Reactive Power Control based Conservation Voltage Reduction in Active Distribution Systems

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2017
This paper proposes a distributed reactive power control based approach to deploy Volt/VAr optimization (VVO) / Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) algorithm in a distribution network with distributed generations (DG) units and distribution static synchronous compensators (D-STATCOM).

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
