Active Floating Micro Electrode Arrays (AFMA)

2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006
Neuroscientists have widely used metal microelectrodes inserted into the cortex to record neural signals from, and provide electrical stimulation to, neural tissue for many years. Recently, the demand for implanting electrode arrays within the cortex, for both stimulation and recording, has rapidly increased.

A 382nVrms 100GΩ@50Hz Active Electrode for Dry-Electrode EEG Recording

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems
This article describes a low noise and ultra-high input impedance active electrode (AE) interface chip for dry-electrode EEG recording. To compensate the input parasitic capacitance and the ESD leakage, power/ground/ESD bootstrapping is proposed. This design integrates chopping stabilization technique to suppress flicker noise of the amplifier which ...

Activation energy and activation volume in electrode kinetics

Electrochimica Acta, 1968
Abstract A unified treatment of activation energy and activation volume is developed, based upon absolute reaction-rate theory. The treatment is generalized to include complex higher-order charge-transfer mechanisms. Rigorous equations are derived for the standard enthalpy and standard volume of activation. The common experimental quantities are then

Electrode Activation and Passivation of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Electrodes

Fuel Cells, 2006
AbstractThe performance of anode‐supported cells with a composite LSM‐YSZ cathode and an LSM current collector was investigated. Over the first 48 hours, after the application of a constant current, the cell voltage was observed to increase by up to 20%.

A Digital Active Electrode System

2018
This chapter presents a digital active electrode (DAE) system for multiparameter biopotential signal acquisition. Each DAE is built around an ASIC that performs analog signal processing and digitization by means of on-chip instrumentation amplifiers (IAs), a 12-bit ADC, and a digital interface.

Self‐Entwinement of an Active Fixation Pacemaker Electrode

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1990
We report a case in which an active fixation atrial lead tip became entwined on the proximal lead body during implantation. It was not possible to disengage the tip or to remove the resultant Jead loop atraumatically through the insertion site. Removal of the lead was accomplished using a Dotter intravascular snare inserted via a femoral vein, with ...

Determination of Molybdenum and Tungsten with Iodide Activity Electrode

Analytical Letters, 1973
Abstract A new method for the determination of molybdenum and tungsten is described based on their catalysis of the hydrogen peroxide-iodide reaction as monitored with an iodide ion-selective electrode. This method yields better results than methods previously used. For example, Yatsimirskii and Afanaseva1 and Erdey and Svehla2 have found a lower limit

Chemical nature of electrochemical activation of carbon electrodes

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2019
Electrochemical activation of carbonaceous electrodes is a common step in the preparation of high-performance electrochemical (bio-)sensors. The underlying mechanism has long been discussed but is, however, not yet fully understood. Here, we propose that electrochemical activation can produce graphene derivatives that largely enhance the ...

Electrocatalytic activity of DNA on electrodes as an indication of hybridisation

Bioelectrochemistry, 2006
Electron transfer between metal electrodes and ferro/ferricyanide is completely suppressed at low ionic concentration. We describe here a new phenomenon related to this reaction: an immobilisation of thiolated single-stranded DNA on gold electrodes retains this activity at low ionic strength up to the level corresponding to the high ionic strength.

An Active Electrode Readout Circuit

2018
This chapter presents an AE with gain, which results in a better noise-power tradeoff than a buffer-based AE. The proposed AE utilizes an instrumentation amplifier (IA) with state-of-the-art performance, making it suitable for dry-electrode EEG acquisition.
