Active feedback-controlled dielectrophoretic levitation

Journal of Applied Physics, 1986
Dielectrophoretic levitation of small metallic particles in insulating dielectric liquids is achieved using a microprocessor-controlled digital feedback system. An optical detector senses vertical particle position and the error signal generated controls the voltage applied to the electrodes of the levitator cell.

Activation of Nonlinear Feedback Concepts

2000
We describe the ongoing ‘activation process’ in nonlinear control, through which some of the earlier descriptive concepts are being converted into constructive design tools applicable to common classes of nonlinear systems. This process is a confluence of several research streams with activated stability, passivity and geometric concepts.

Tubuloglomerular feedback activity after glomerular immune injury

American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 1989
Tubuloglomerular feedback responses were examined in control euvolemic and glomerulonephritic rats 4 wk after administration of antiglomerular basement membrane antibody (AGBM). Single-nephron glomerular filtration rate (SNGFR) was reduced approximately 30% in AGBM rats.

Laser Doppler vibrometer employing active frequency feedback

Applied Optics, 2008
We present a heterodyne Michelson interferometer for vibration measurement in which feedback is used to obviate the need to unwrap phase data. The Doppler shift of a vibrating target mirror is sensed interferometrically and compensated by means of a voltage-controlled oscillator driving an acousto-optic modulator.

Active learning and feedback patterns

Proceedings of the 2006 conference on Pattern languages of programs, 2006
These four Pedagogical Patterns are intended to extend the Feedback [5] and Active Learning [2] collections within the Pedagogical Patterns Project. The ideas here have been gathered from observing expert teachers and the descriptions of what they do.

Feedback of stutterers’ electromyographic activity

1975
Five studies were performed to explore the feasibility of treating severe chronic stuttering with EMG feedback. EMG spiking from the throat was found to correlate with stuttering, and to differentiate between stuttering and fluent speech. EMG spiking tended to disappear when stuttering was reduced by metronome-paced speech and by speech therapy ...

Adrenocortical Feedback Control of Pituitary-Adrenal Activity

1970
Publisher Summary When the system is hormonal—that is, if the system's task is to liberate controlled amounts of a hormone into the general circulation—it is an obvious expectation that the level of circulating hormone may be the actual factor that feeds back on the controlling center to inform the system of its own achievements.
