Structural and Dynamic Origins of Payne Effect Reduction by Steric Stabilization in Silica Reinforced Poly(butadiene) Nanocomposites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 1, Page 532-542, 10 January 2026.
Steric stabilisation of silica nanoparticles suppresses the Payne effect in poly(butadiene) nanocomposites and enables the thickness of the glassy layer to be quantified with QENS experiments. ABSTRACT Silica nanoparticles in polybutadiene nanocomposites cause significantly hindered polymer dynamics in the form of a glassy layer, which can extend more ...

Galaxy Zoo: the effect of bar-driven fuelling on the presence of an active galactic nucleus in disc galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study the influence of the presence of a strong bar in disc galaxies which host an active galactic nucleus (AGN). Using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and morphological classificationsfromtheGalaxyZoo2project,wecreateavolume ...

Realization of Complex‐Shaped Magnetic Nanotubes with 3D Printing and Electrodeposition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 4, 12 January 2026.
Complex‐shaped magnetic nanotubes were fabricated by coating three‐dimensional nanoscaffolds fabricated with focused electron beam induced deposition with a magnetic coating via electrodeposition. X‐ray magnetic microscopy and simulations revealed an azimuthal magnetic configuration within the nanotubes and pinning of domain walls at curved vertices ...

The Interstellar Medium of IRAS 08572+3915 NW: H3+ and Warm High Velocity CO

open access: yes, 2006
We confirm the first detection of the molecular ion H3+ in an extragalactic object, the highly obscured ultraluminous galaxy IRAS 08572+3915 NW. We also have detected absorption lines of the fundamental band of CO in this galaxy.

Atomic‐Scale Insights into Nanoparticle Exsolution at Dislocations in Dislocation‐Engineered Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 1, 2 January 2026.
This study reveals an atomic‐level correlation between bulk dislocations and the exsolution of surface nanoparticles through a novel approach for dislocation engineering in epitaxial thin films. Employing in situ scanning transmission electron microscopy, two primary reasons for the frequent nucleation of dislocation‐associated nanoparticles are ...

Accretion of Active Galactic Nucleus Stars Under the Influence of Disk Geometry

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Massive stars can form within or be captured by active galactic nucleus disks, influencing both the thermal structure and metallicity of the disk environment.

Aptamer Engineering: Strategies for Discovering Functional Nucleic Acids for Next‐Generation Diagnostics and Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
The advent of aptamers has highlighted their potential as alternatives to antibodies, overcoming limitations of structural instability and production cost. However, conventional approaches such as SELEX remain slow and labor‐intensive. This review examines recent advances in aptamer engineering, emphasizing in vitro and AI‐driven in silico strategies ...

The First Triple Radio Active Galactic Nucleus in an Ongoing Galaxy Merger

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Galaxy mergers are predicted to be a critical stage of merger-driven SMBH growth and galaxy evolution. Systems exhibiting multiple active galactic nuclei (AGN) are an important observational tool for constraining the prevalence and properties of merging ...

Extremely Red Galaxies at z = 5–9 with MIRI and NIRSpec: Dusty Galaxies or Obscured Active Galactic Nuclei?

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal
We study a new population of extremely red objects (EROs) recently discovered by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) based on their NIRCam colors F277W − F444W > 1.5 mag.
