Pyrrole‐Imine Macrocycle: Self‐Organizing Cross‐Reactive Anion Receptor and Sensor

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 57, October 13, 2025.
An imine macrocycle comprising pyrroles as hydrogen‐bond donors and an environmentally sensitive fluorophore displays a wide cross‐reactive binding, which, in combination with an analyte‐specific fluorescence response allows differentiation between ten analytes and their concentrations.

Effects of Intrinsic Active Galactic Nucleus Variability on Optical Quasiperiodic Oscillations Related to Subparsec Binary Black Hole Systems in Broad-line Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this paper, an oversimplified model is proposed to test the effects of intrinsic active galactic nucleus (AGN) variability on expected optical quasiperiodic oscillations (QPOs) related to subparsec binary black hole systems (BBHs) in broad-line AGN ...

Redox‐dependent binding and conformational equilibria govern the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 19, Page 2802-2816, October 2025.
In this work, we reveal how different enzyme binding configurations influence the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in live cells using time‐resolved anisotropy imaging and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Mathematical modelling shows that the redox states of the NAD and NADP pools govern these configurations, shaping their fluorescence ...

Simultaneous inhibition of TRIM24 and TRIM28 sensitises prostate cancer cells to antiandrogen therapy, decreasing VEGF signalling and angiogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 10, Page 2797-2821, October 2025.
TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

Resolving a Candidate Dual Active Galactic Nucleus with ∼100 pc Separation in MCG-03-34-64

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the serendipitous multiwavelength discovery of a candidate dual black hole system with a separation of ∼100 pc, in the gas-rich luminous infrared galaxy MCG-03-34-64 ( z = 0.016).

Highly Efficient Platinum‐Free Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution From Low‐cost Conjugated Polymer Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 40, October 9, 2025.
Platinum‐free hydrogen photocatalysis is achieved using dibenzothiophene‐S,S‐sulfoxide‐based conjugated polymers, self‐assembled into nanoparticles via nanoprecipitation. Through side chain engineering and donor–acceptor design, these materials reach a hydrogen evolution rate of 209 mmol g⁻¹ h⁻¹. The structure–function insights presented here establish

Star formation around active galactic nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes
Active galactic nuclei (Seyfert nuclei and their relatives) and intense star formation can both deliver substantial amounts of energy to the vicinity of a galactic nucleus.
