Chemistry in isolation: High CCH/HCO+ line ratio in the AMIGA galaxy CIG 638

open access: yes, 2014
Multi-molecule observations towards an increasing variety of galaxies have been showing that the relative molecular abundances are affected by the type of activity.

Behavioural and physiological responses of chacma baboons (Papio ursinus) to human‐induced mortality in anthropogenically modified habitat

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract As a result of expanding human populations and the anthropogenic modification of natural habitats, many wildlife populations are living in increasing proximity to humans. While this may provide benefits to some species through increased access to resources, sharing space and resources often leads to negative interactions or ‘conflict’ between ...

Nuclear Activity in Nearby Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesAnnual Review of Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2008
A significant fraction of nearby galaxies show evidence of weak nuclear activity unrelated to normal stellar processes. Recent high-resolution, multiwavelength observations indicate that the bulk of this activity derives from black hole accretion with a wide range of accretion rates.

DICED (Database of Identified Cleavage Sites Endemic to Diseases States): A Searchable Web Interface for Terminomics/Degradomics

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Proteolysis is an irreversible posttranslational modification with immense biological impact. Owing to its high disease significance, there is growing interest in investigating proteolysis on the proteome scale, termed degradomics. We developed ‘Database of Identified Cleavage sites Endemic to Disease states’ (DICED; https://diced.lerner.ccf ...

Analysis of nuclear activity of ten polar ring galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The accumulation of mass from the interaction process that forms the polar ring galaxies is a factor that favors the conditions necessary to trigger nonthermal nuclear activities.. This fact encouraged the chemical analysis of ten polar ring galaxies. In order to verify the presence of an active nucleus in these galaxias, we built diagnostic diagrams ...

The Overdense Environments of WISE-Selected, Ultra-Luminous, High-Redshift AGN in the Submillimeter

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2017
The environments around WISE-selected hot dust obscured galaxies (Hot DOGs) and WISE/radio-selected active galactic nuclei (AGNs) at average redshifts of z = 2.7 and z = 1.7, respectively, were found to have overdensities of companion Submillimeter ...

A Non‐Metaproteomics Researchers’ View on Metaproteomics in Microbiome Research

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Metaproteomics, an emerging field among the omic techniques, holds great promise for unraveling the function of microbiomes in host health and our environment. Metaproteomics can also be a valuable addition to multiomics studies of the microbiome, complementing genome‐resolved metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metabolomics.

The X-ray and radio structure of extragalactic jets

open access: yesВісник Астрономічної школи, 2011
The internal structure of jets from active galaxies is explored using the X-ray and radio data. The transverse intensity distributions of X-ray knots in jet are calculated and compared with corresponding intensity distributions for radio knots.
