Dreamsound: Deep Activation Layer Sonification

Proceedings of the 26th International Conference on Auditory Display (ICAD 2021), 2021
Deep learning (DL) in audio signal processing has received much attention in the last four years, and it is still a growing field. Some attempts were made to translate deep networks from image to audio applications, and we discuss some of the issues that arise.

Thinning the Active Layer of TFTs

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2014
Large area electronics on glass is now well established. It was and it is mainly driven by the flat panel displays industry. However, it gains more and more other markets: integration of electronics with any sensing function, electronics on any substrate, plastics and different kinds of paper.

Active Layer Dynamics

2011
The annually frozen and thawed active layer in permafrost terrain and the seasonally frozen ground in non-permafrost areas have comparable thermal and hydrologic behavior for most parts of the year. Pervasive coldness of the winter freezes the near-surface zones of rocks and soils, minimizing the thermal and hydrologic differences between the ...

OSI presentation layer activities

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1983
This paper discusses the current status of standards work regarding the Presentation Layer of Open Systems Interconnection (OSI). The Presentation Layer helps communicating systems to represent information. It is closely tied to the activities of the Application Layer which communicates the meaning of the information between systems.

Layer-Specific Somatosensory Cortical Activation During Active Tactile Discrimination

Science, 2004
Ensemble neuronal activity was recorded in each layer of the whisker area of the primary somatosensory cortex (SI) while rats performed a whisker-dependent tactile discrimination task. Comparison of this activity with SI activity evoked by similar passive whisker stimulation revealed fundamental differences in tactile signal processing during active ...

Room-Temperature Operation of ZnSe-Active-Layer and ZnCdSe-Active-Layer Laser Diodes

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1996
Room-temperature operation of a ZnSe-active-layer double-heterostructure laser diode (LD) was observed. The lasing wavelength was 471 nm. The emission energy shift with increasing current is explained by band filling and band-gap shrinkage. The threshold carrier density is calculated to be 4×1018 cm-3.

Zn 0.85 Cd 0.15 Se active layers on graded-composition InxGa1−xAs buffer layers

Journal of Applied Physics, 1999
We investigated the structural and optical properties of Zn0.85Cd0.15Se epilayers for blue optical emission on lattice-matched InxGa1−xAs buffer layers. Both the II–VI layers and the III–V buffers were grown by molecular beam epitaxy on GaAs(001) wafers.

Active fatty acid layers

Science, 2016
Atmospheric Chemistry Saturated fatty acids are considered to be inert, but they can be surprisingly reactive when present as a coating at an air-water interface. Rossignol et al. show that nonanoic acid is photochemically active when it is present as a monolayer on a water surface (see the Perspective by Vaida).

What is the “active layer”?

Water Resources Research, 2017
AbstractWe note the presence in the literature of two different concepts of the term “active layer” in relation to fluvial sediment transport. It has been used to represent the current dynamically active streambed surface, or to represent the depth of event‐scale scour and fill. These concepts involve distinct length and time scales.

Thin layer activation of copper

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1985
Abstract The thin layer activation method has been applied to study the wear of surfaces which contain copper. Its potential applications he in the electrical industry for monitoring the conditions of electrical contacts and rotors.
