Thick Active Layers of Electrochemically Modified Glassy Carbon. Electrochemical Impedance Studies
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2000Glassy carbon electrodes were electrochemically modified by an anodization/cathodization procedure in aqueous . Depending on the anodization time, the active‐layer thickness could be controlled from less than a micrometer to nearly 100 μm. Electrochemical impedance measurements indicated that the capacitance per unit volume of the active layer was ...

Altitude Trends in Permafrost Active Layer Thickness, Kluane Lake, Y.T.
ARCTIC, 1987On the northwest-facing slopes of Outpost Mountain, Kluane Lake, the permafrost active layer shows an anomalous relationship with altitude, being thinner (typically 40 cm) between 823 and 910 m altitude than above or below this belt. Maximum thicknesses (about 90 cm) are encountered in the shrub tundra at 1310 m elevation.

Recent changes in the active layer thickness across the northern hemisphere
Environmental Earth Sciences, 2016To better understand the ecological and hydrological responses to climatic and cryospheric changes, the spatiotemporal variations in the active layer thickness (ALT) need to be scrupulously studied. Based on more than 230 sites from the circumpolar active layer monitoring network, the spatiotemporal characteristics of the ALT across the northern ...

Non-destructive measurement of active-layer thickness of LR 115 SSNTD
Radiation Measurements, 2004Abstract LR 115 is a solid-state nuclear track detector (SSNTD) based on cellulose nitrate and has been commonly used for measurements of concentrations of radon gas and/or radon progeny. These measurements depend critically on the removed thickness of the active layer during etching.

Winter streamflow, ground temperature and active‐layer thickness in Northeast China
Permafrost and Periglacial Processes, 2003AbstractSeasonal freezing and thawing influence the hydrological regimes of winter streamflow in northeast China where abrupt increases of 1.3° C and 2.8° C in the annual and winter air temperatures have occurred since the 1990s. Correlation between winter discharge and soil freezing is based upon hydrometeorological and geocryological data for the ...

Effect of thickness of ZnO active layer on ZnO-TFT's characteristics
Thin Solid Films, 2008Abstract We have investigated the electrical characteristics of ZnO thin film transistors with respect to the thickness of ZnO active layers. The ZnO layers with the thickness of 30 nm to 150 nm were deposited on bottom gate patterned Si substrate by RF sputtering at room temperature. The low-temperature oxide served as gate dielectric.

Optimal thickness of the active layer in a heterojunction laser
Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1971Optimization of a symmetrical heterostructure is considered and the minimal value of the threshold current of a heterojunction laser at 300°K is calculated. It is shown that in the case of linear or superlinear (but weaker than quadratic) dependence of the optical gain on the current, the optimal thickness of the active layer d0 can be deduced from a ...

Active‐layer‐thickness dependence of Rabi splitting energies in ZnO microcavities
physica status solidi c, 2012AbstractWe have investigated the active‐layer‐thickness dependence of Rabi splitting energies in ZnO microcavities. We fabricated ZnO microcavities using rf magnetron sputtering for the HfO2/SiO2 distributed Bragg reflector and pulsed‐laser deposition for the ZnO active layer.

Performance Optimization of P3HT:PCBM Solar Cells by Controlling Active Layer Thickness
2015Optimization of organic solar cells (OSCs) active layer thickness for improved performance has been investigated for P3HT:PCBM hybrid bulk heterojunction OSCs. Active layers in the range 65-266 nm were produced using a conventional device structure (ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:PCBM/Al).
