Contaminants of emerging concern in agricultural soils: Current understanding, overlooked issues, and future priorities

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 792-810, May 2026.
Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in agriculture represent a growing global challenge for food safety and public health. In this review, we synthesized evidence on how substances such as pharmaceuticals, microplastics, and per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) enter soils, accumulate in crops, and affect ecological and human health. We found

Ideal magnetocaloric effect for active magnetic regenerators

open access: yes, 2003
The active magnetic regenerator (AMR) uses a magnetic solid as a thermal storage medium and as a working material in a refrigeration cycle. Thermodynamically coupled to a heat transfer fluid, the regenerator produces a cooling effect and generates a ...

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 4, Page 751-765, April 2026.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

Static and rotating active magnetic regenerators with porous heat exchangers for magnetic cooling

open access: yes, 2020
The operation behaviour of an active magnetic regenerator (AMR) with a wavy-structure, or a honeycomb-like regenerator bed was numerically investigated.

Synthesis of Monodisperse Low‐Crosslinked Polymer Microspheres With Sulfonic Acid by Precipitation Polymerization

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 64, Issue 7, Page 1553-1567, 1 April 2026.
An efficient strategy for preparing monodisperse crosslinked polymer microspheres with phenylsulfonate via precipitation polymerization has been successfully established. Monodisperse microspheres are successfully obtained using a designed crosslinker even when the total crosslinker content was below 20 mol%. All the polymer microspheres possess a well‐

Cinnamic‐Hydroxamic‐Acid Derivatives Exhibit Antibiotic, Anti‐Biofilm, and Supercoiling Relaxation Properties by Targeting Bacterial Nucleoid‐Associated Protein HU

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.
