Aromaticity and Optical Activity
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2015The relationship between aromaticity and optical activity is investigated in comparisons of heterocycles with 4n + 2 and 4n π-electrons, in cyclic ketones with and without aromatic resonance structure representations, in tautomers and pericyclic reaction partners in which only one compound of each pair is aromatic, and in partially hydrogenated cyclo ...

Control algorithm and performance of the active optics system of the Giant Magellan Telescope
Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation, 2018The GMT active optics (AcO) control problem is unique because the primary and secondary mirrors are both segmented. This paper describes the AcO control algorithms and assesses their performance for the Natural Seeing observing modes of the GMT.

Nonlinear optics and optical activity
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1972The second-harmonic generation coefficients of sodium chlorate and sodium bromate crystals are estimated from their optical rotatory powers by means of the anharmonic oscillator model of Condon, Altar and Eyring. The correct signs are determined, and reasonably good numerical agreement with experiment is obtained.

Active optics system prototype applied on a passive large aperture off-axis LEO space telescope
Optical Engineering: The Journal of SPIE, 2018. A large aperture space telescope with a passive structure with high stiffness and thermal stability can maintain a good image quality in a large span of disturbance.

Optical activity in the hyperpolarizability
Synthetic Metals, 1993It was demonstrated that second harmonic generation (SHG) can be obtained from centrosym. crystals of a racemic mixt. of chiral mols. Circular polarization of the fundamental wave is a prerequisite to obtain selectivity in the interaction of the fundamental wave with one of the enantiomers in the racemic mixt., furnishing a distortion of the ...

Active optics system of the VLT Survey Telescope.
Applied Optics, 2016This paper describes the active optics system of the VLT Survey Telescope, the 2.6-m survey telescope designed for visible wavelengths of the European Southern Observatory at Cerro Paranal, in the Atacama desert.

Developments in active optics for space instruments: an ESA perspective
Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation, 2016An increasing need for higher resolution for both Science and Earth Observation applications demands a bigger entrance aperture of future optical payloads, leading to large primary mirrors, either monolithic or deployable.
