CMOS active pixel sensors for ionising radiation
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2005Abstract Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) take advantage of recent developments in deep sub-micron VLSI technology. CMOS sensors now enjoy widespread commercial applications as inexpensive visible light-imaging devices. These are also being utilised and developed for an increasing number of scientific fields due to advantages which include: low

Analysis of active pixel sensor readout circuit
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, 2003This work provides a detailed analysis of active pixel sensor, pixel and column circuit. Surprisingly, we find that shorter readout times can be achieved by reducing the bias current and hence reducing energy consumption. We investigate the effect of nonidealities on the readout operation.

Reset noise in active pixel image sensors
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 2004In most image sensor pixel architectures, signal detection involves the reset of charge in a capacitive node. This operation gives rise to reset noise, and in particular, partition noise. In modern day transistors, with the shrinkage of device critical dimensions and increase of clock frequency, reset noise impacts many aspects of active pixel sensor ...

3D active-matrix multimodal sensor arrays for independent detection of pressure and temperature
Science AdvancesPressure and temperature sensing simultaneously and independently is crucial for creating electronic skin that replicates complex sensory functions of human skin. Thin-film transistor (TFT) arrays with sensors have enabled cross-talk–free spatial sensing.
