Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

Decomposition of unbalanced operation incremented active power loss in distribution network

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
Unbalanced operation of distribution networks, as a crucial but inevitable aspect of power quality, brings about economic and technical issues. The increase in active power loss is more concerning due to the economic and technical implications.

Total Fuel Cost, Power Loss, and Voltage Deviation Reduction for Power Systems with Optimal Placement and Operation of FACTS and Renewable Power Sources

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The paper finds optimal power flows and optimal placement of wind power plants (WPPs), static var compensators (SVCs), and thyristor-controlled series capacitors (TCSCs) in the IEEE 30-bus transmission power network by applying three high-performance ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Optimal Design and Operation of Wind Turbines in Radial Distribution Power Grids for Power Loss Minimization

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This research proposes a strategy to minimize the active power loss in the standard IEEE 85-node radial distribution power grid by optimizing the placement of wind turbines in the grid.

REDUCTION OF ACTIVE POWER LOSS BY IMPROVED TABU SEARCH ALGORITHM

open access: yesInternational Journal of Research -GRANTHAALAYAH, 2018
In this paper, an Improved Tabu Search (ITS) algorithm has been proposed to solve the optimal reactive power problem. In this work Tabu Search- has been hybridized with Simulated Annealing algorithm to solve the optimal reactive power problem. Hybridization of these two algorithms improves the exploration & exploitation capabilities during the ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
