Active Shape Models for Customised Prosthesis Design

1999
Images and computer graphics play an increasingly important role in the design and manufacture of medical prostheses and implants. Images provide guidance on optimal design in terms of location, preparation and the overall shape and configuration of subcomponents.

Active Shape Model Based on Sparse Representation

2012
Active shape model (ASM), as a method for extracting and representing object shapes, has received considerable attention in recent years. In ASM, a shape is represented statistically by a set of well-defined landmark points and its variations are modeled by the principal component analysis (PCA).

Automatic initialization of an active shape model of the prostate

Medical Image Analysis, 2008
In this work is reported a new method for automatic segmentation of the boundary of the prostate, in transurethral ultrasound images. The scheme is based on a robust automatic initialization of an active shape model (ASM) of the prostate, which is subsequently fitted to the boundary of the gland.
