Endotoxin-stimulated monocytes develop a very high tissue-factor-like activity as compared to an equivalent number of monocytes in a preparation of monocyte-enriched mononuclear blood cells obtained by Ficoll®-Urovison® density gradient centrifugation which is not exposed to endotoxin.
