Potential and Actual Yields of Seed from Black Spruce Cones
Black spruce (Picea mariana [Mill.] B.S P.) trees have semi-serotinous cones and disperse seed over a period of years, a fact that suggests possible difficulty in seed release. Reported seed yields per cone are variable, and operational extraction yields are low. It is hypothesized that this could be attributed partially to incomplete extraction.

Location of colorectal cancer: colonoscopy versus surgery. Yield of colonoscopy in predicting actual location [PDF]
Abstract Background and study aims Recent studies suggest that differences in biological characteristics and risk factors across cancer site within the colon and rectum may translate to differences in survival. It can be challenging at times to determine the precise anatomical location of a lesion with a luminal view during colonoscopy.

Comparison among nine alfalfa breeding schemes based on actual biomass yield gains
AbstractThe definition of efficient selection methods for biomass yield of alfalfa and other open‐pollinated forage crops has lagged behind, despite its crucial importance for breeders. This study, performed in northern Italy, aimed to compare nine breeding schemes encompassing the evaluation of replicated clones and half‐sib (HS), first selfing ...

Unveiling the Actual Functions of Awns in Grasses: From Yield Potential to Quality Traits [PDF]
Awns, which are either bristles or hair-like outgrowths of lemmas in the florets, are one of the typical morphological characteristics of grass species. These stiff structures contribute to grain dispersal and burial and fend off animal predators. However, their phenotypic and genetic associations with traits deciding potential yield and quality are ...

Comparison of methods for estimating continuous distributions of relaxation times [PDF]
The nonparametric estimation of the distribution of relaxation times approach is not as frequently used in the analysis of dispersed response of dielectric or conductive materials as are other immittance data analysis methods based on parametric curve ...
