Designing Vibrotactile Widgets with Printed Actuators and Sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Physical controls are fabricated through complicated assembly of parts requiring expensive machinery and are prone to mechanical wear. One solution is to embed controls directly in interactive surfaces, but the proprioceptive part of gestural interaction

Control of a multi-degree of freedom worktool for vibrations assisted forging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper addresses the control of a tool developed to superimpose vibrations along several directions on a piece during forging. Piezoelectric actuators are used to provide the required forces and speeds.

Feasibility of a Dielectric Elastomer Augmented Aorta

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2021
Although heart transplantation is a gold standard for severe heart failure, there is a need for alternative effective therapies. A dielectric‐elastomer aorta is used to augment the physiological role of the aorta in the human circulatory system.

Flow-Ratio Monitoring in a Microchannel by Liquid-Liquid Interface Interferometry

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
A new method to monitor the relative flow rates of two different liquids in a microchannel is presented. By using a simple out-of-plane interferometer setup, shifts in the position of the interface between the two liquids can be determined.

An extended actuator cylinder model: Actuator‐in‐actuator cylinder (AC‐squared) model [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy, 2019
AbstractIn this paper, the actuator‐in‐actuator cylinder (AC‐squared) model is presented. This model is an extension of the original actuator cylinder model of Madsen and is capable of modelling the effect of a two concentric actuation surfaces in 2D. The induced velocity at every point in the 2D field is affected by the force field acting on the two ...

A Manipulability-Driven Method for Efficient Telescopic Motion Computation of Controllable Space Manipulator

open access: yesAerospace
The addition of telescopic joints will enhance the manipulator’s motion dexterity but increase the motion complexity, thereby potentially reducing the efficiency of motion planning.
