Misses and Near Misses in Paediatric Appendicitis: An Eight‐Year, Single‐Centre Retrospective Review

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 114, Issue 7, Page 1562-1569, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Diagnostic error can result in the appendectomy of a normal appendix, commonly known as negative appendectomy (NA). Missed appendicitis (MA) is related to a poor outcome. The aim of this study was to determine whether there are factors in presentation associated with NA or MA.

Repeatedly Appending Any Digit to Generate Composite Numbers [PDF]

open access: yesAmer. Math. Monthly 121 (2014), no. 5, 416-421, 2019
We investigate the problem of finding integers $k$ such that appending any number of copies of the base-ten digit $d$ to $k$ yields a composite number. In particular, we prove that there exist infinitely many integers coprime to all digits such that repeatedly appending {\it any} digit yields a composite number.
