An acute coronary syndrome in Antarctica

open access: yesInternational Maritime Health, 2019
Cruise tourism to Antarctica is constantly growing. Passengers and crewmembers may experience illnessesor injuries while traveling to remote areas with harsh weather conditions from where prompt evacuationis mostly unavailable. While a small explorer ship was at Wilhelmina bay (64°39' South and 62°08' West)in the Antarctic Peninsula, a 73-year-old male

Antithrombotics in Acute Coronary Syndromes

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2009
Antithrombotic agents are an integral component of the medical regimens and interventional strategies currently recommended to reduce thrombotic complications in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS). Despite great advances with these therapies, associated high risks for thrombosis and hemorrhage remain as the result of complex interactions ...

Low‐Dose X‐Ray Radiation Enhances Intratumoral Accumulation and Antitumor Effects of Nanoscale Coordination Polymers via Neutrophil‐Mediated Trafficking

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Low‐dose radiotherapy has been shown to direct nanoscale coordination polymers (NCPs) to tumors by promoting neutrophil recruitment. This immune‐mediated delivery strategy markedly enhances tumor targeting and the therapeutic efficacy of NCPs carrying combination chemotherapies or innate immune modulators, even under clinically relevant radiation ...

Design and Development of rGO and Polymer‐Based Patches for Cardiac Tissue Engineering

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Myocardial infarction (MI), caused by coronary artery blockage, is a leading cause of death worldwide and results in permanent heart damage. Current treatments have limited success in fully restoring cardiac function, leading to increased interest in tissue engineering solutions.

Gout and NLRP3 Inflammasome Biology

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
This review describes the three broad stages of acute inflammation in the context of gout: initiation, leucocyte mobilization, and self‐resolution. A typical case of a gout flare is presented. The role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in acute monosodium urate crystal–induced inflammation is reviewed in detail.

Clinical features of the course of various forms of acute coronary syndrome in patients with diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract

open access: yesЛечащий Врач
Background. Diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract and acute coronary syndrome have similar manifestations of pain syndrome, which may contribute to the patient's postponement of seeking medical help with the development of acute coronary events ...
