Anti-Leukemic Properties of Histamine in Monocytic Leukemia: The Role of NOX2

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2018
In patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), treatment with histamine dihydrochloride (HDC) and low-dose IL-2 (HDC/IL-2) in the post-chemotherapy phase has been shown to reduce the incidence of leukemic relapse.

Monocyte maturation pattern by flow cytometry expression of CD64, CD300e, and CD14 correlates to presence of myeloid neoplasm and helps identify blast equivalents in the setting of monocytic neoplasm

open access: yesCytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, EarlyView.
Abstract CD300e is a marker of mature monocytes in flow cytometry; however, there is limited detailed information on staining patterns in conjunction with other monocyte markers. We evaluated the flow cytometric staining patterns of CD64, CD14, and CD300e in 12 negative and 33 positive peripheral blood specimens and 16 negative and 56 positive bone ...

RORγt‐APCs: The New Masters of Oral Tolerance

open access: yesBarrier Immunity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Oral tolerance is defined by the hypo‐responsiveness of our body to fed antigens, and its failure can lead to immune‐mediated diseases, such as allergy, chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases. Decades of research have demonstrated that antigen‐presenting cells (APCs) promote oral tolerance by inducing regulatory T cells (Tregs) and/or ...

A review of current knowledge of myeloproliferative disorders in the horse

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 2021
Myeloid disorders are conditions being characterized by abnormal proliferation and development of myeloid lineage including granulocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils), monocytes, erythroids, and megakaryocytes precursor cells. Myeloid leukemia,

Cell marker analysis in acute monocytic leukemias [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1977
Leukemic cells from nine cases of acute monocytic leukemia (AMoL) were characterized by multiple differentiation markers. Cells in most cases were phagocytic, carried an Fc receptor, and stained positively for alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase but negatively for naphthol AS-D chloroacetate esterase.

Lymphoma, multiple myeloma and leukaemia incidence in regions of Belarus most heavily contaminated by the Chernobyl accident

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? The 1986 Chernobyl accident led to widespread radioactive contamination across parts of Europe, with elevated childhood leukaemia rates observed in heavily affected areas of Ukraine. Data on long‐term haematological and other non‐thyroid cancer risk in the general population in heavily contaminated regions, however, remain limited.

Aleukemic Leukemia Cutis Manifesting with Disseminated Nodular Eruptions and a Plaque Preceding Acute Monocytic Leukemia: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2011
Aleukemic leukemia cutis (ALC), a discrete tumor of leukemic cells involving the skin, may be the first manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia, preceding the onset in marrow and blood by months and years.
