Acute myelogenous leukemia

Experimental Hematology, 2009
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous disease with outcomes dependent upon several factors, including patient age, karyotype, mutational status, and comorbid conditions. For younger patients, approximately 60% to 80% achieve complete remission with standard therapy involving cytarabine and an anthracycline.

Therapy of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia

Blood Reviews, 1983
Over the past 10 years, there have been substantial advances in the treatment of AML. Intensive induction chemotherapy using 7-day courses of cytarabine and daunorubicin or amsacrine produce remission in 60% to 85% of patients. Median remission duration is 9 to 16 months. In some series, 20% to 40% of patients are in continuous remission for 2 years or

Acute myelogenous leukemia heteroantisera

Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology, 1980
Abstract Antisera were raised in New Zealand white rabbits to acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) cells. Reactivity of the antisera against normal T lymphocytes was eliminated by pretreating the rabbits with anti-leukocyte serum (ALS) and precoating the immunizing cell with ALS.

Acute Myelogenous Leukemia in Pregnancy

Southern Medical Journal, 1984
The experience with acute myelogenous leukemia treated with newer chemotherapeutic agents during pregnancy is limited. We have reported the case of a mother treated during the 24th week of pregnancy, and her infant delivered in the 29th week. At 14 months the infant is of low height and weight, but has a normal head circumference and developmental ...

Fever in Acute Myelogenous Leukemia

Clinical Pediatrics, 1982
Twenty patients with acute myelocytic leukemia were observed over a period of 16.5 patient years in an attempt to identify any relationship between fever, granulocytopenia (<1000 gran ulocytes/μl), infection, and disease status. An infectious origin for fever in association with gran ulocytopenia could be established in the majority of instances ...

Smouldering Acute Myelogenous Leukemia

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1978
ABSTRACT. Among 195 patients with variants of acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), a minimum of 11 met our criteria of smouldering AML: patients with less than 30% of blast cells plus promyelocytes in the bone marrow at the time of diagnosis who were observed without specific antileukemic therapy for a period of at least 6 months without entering a ...

Hypocholesterolemia in acute myelogenous leukemia

European Journal of Haematology, 1988
Plasma‐cholesterol concentrations were determined in 85 acute myelogenous leukemia patients. Measurements were repeated in 28 cases during remission. Mean plasmacholesterol concentration (± SD) at diagnosis was 3.95 mmol/l (± 1.29). 47 patients (55.3%) had hypocholesterolemia (< 3.87 mmoi/l).
