Transcription factor activity profile of acute rejection after kidney transplantation

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation, 2013
Transcription factors (TFs) play a central role in regulating gene expression and in providing an interconnecting regulatory between related pathway elements.

SPECT- and PET-Based Approaches for Noninvasive Diagnosis of Acute Renal Allograft Rejection

open access: yes, 2016
Molecular imaging techniques such as single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) or positron emission tomography are promising tools for noninvasive diagnosis of acute allograft rejection (AR). Given the importance of renal transplantation and the

Peptide Sequencing With Single Acid Resolution Using a Sub‐Nanometer Diameter Pore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To sequence a single molecule of Aβ1−42–sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the aggregate is forced through a sub‐nanopore 0.4 nm in diameter spanning a 4.0 nm thick membrane. The figure is a visual molecular dynamics (VMD) snapshot depicting the translocation of Aβ1−42–SDS through the pore; only the peptide, the SDS, the Na+ (yellow/green) and Cl− (cyan ...

Emergent Magnetic Structures at the 2D Limit of the Altermagnet MnTe

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Renewed interest in MnTe has emerged due to its intriguing altermagnetism, a newly identified form of magnetism distinct from conventional ferro‐, antiferro‐, or paramagnetism. By combining magnetic X‐ray absorption spectroscopy, scanning tunnelling microscopy, and first‐principles theory, this study reveals that thinning MnTe to the 2D limit ...

Differentiation of acute versus chronic skin rejection in a rodent model of vascularized composite allotransplantation

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundVascularized composite allografts (VCA) have evolved to be a potential option in complex reconstructive surgery. However, managing acute and chronic allograft rejection remains challenging.

Triple Regimen with Rituximab, Plasmapheresis and Intravenous Immunoglobulin in the Treatment of Dialysis Dependent Acute Humoral-Mediated Rejection in Kidney Grafts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Introduction: The clinical importance of humoral-mediated acute rejection has been progressively recognised. Early recognition and treatment with plasmapheresis and intravenous immunoglobulin have recently improved short term prognosis.

A Novel Sprayable Fibrinogen/Glycosaminoglycans/Collagen‐Based Bioink for Skin Wound Healing Applied by a Handheld Dual‐Head Airbrush

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐head airbrush‐based spraying device, combined with a fibrinogen bioink enriched with glycosaminoglycans and collagen, enables the delivery of biomaterials and cells to promote wound healing. This system demonstrates effective skin regeneration in vitro and in vivo, with comparable results to autografts.

Recipient Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte Antigen 4 +49 Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism Is Not Associated with Acute Rejection after Liver Transplantation in Chinese Population

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Sciences, 2013
Objective: Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in Cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) gene have been detected and proved to associate with the incidence of rejection after transplantation.
