Peptide Coacervates with Metal–Phenolic Membranes Modulate Glucose Metabolism and Enhance Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Peptide coacervates encapsulated with interferon‐α and membranized with metal–phenolic networks (PC‐IFNα@MPNs) are designed to reprogram glucose competition between tumor and cytotoxic T cells. This metabolic modulation enhances immunotherapy by suppressing tumor glycolysis and boosting T cell effector function.

Complement and hyper acute rejection.

open access: yesSaudi journal of kidney diseases and transplantation : an official publication of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, Saudi Arabia, 2009
Organ transplantation has been a major development in clinical medicine but its success has been marred by the immune system's capacity to respond to "non-self" cells and tissues. A full molecular understanding of this mechanism and the myriad triggers for immune rejection is yet to be elucidated.

The Bionic Interface: Considering the Material Mediated Electrical Stimulation of Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrical stimulation directs stem cell fate in tissue engineering. Cellular responses are influenced by membrane properties, intrinsic cell state, material charge‐transport characteristics, and the applied electrical signal. Additionally, a material’s ability to inject, store, and redistribute charge further modulates these responses.

Efficacy of surveillance bronchoscopy versus clinically indicated bronchoscopy for detection of acute lung transplant rejection: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesERJ Open Research
Background Acute allograft rejection after lung transplantation significantly increases the risk of developing bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome, a form of chronic lung allograft dysfunction and the leading cause of mortality beyond the initial post ...

Integral resource capacity planning for inpatient care services based on hourly bed census predictions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The design and operations of inpatient care facilities are typically largely historically shaped. A better match with the changing environment is often possible, and even inevitable due to the pressure on hospital budgets.

From Molecules to Modules: Advanced Characterization of Membrane Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Membrane technologies can enhance the efficiency and selectivity of chemical separations in energy‐water systems. Improving our understanding and design of separation membranes will require studying their properties at the molecular scale, mesoscale, and macroscale. This perspective highlights advanced characterization techniques for revealing membrane

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Inspired Microneedle Platform for NIR‐responsive Immunomodulation and Accelerated Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The research demonstrates a Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐inspired microneedle platform (MSCi@MN) that addresses chronic diabetic wounds by combining MSC‐derived extracellular nanovesicles (NV)–DNA conjugates in microneedle tips with photothermal MXene in the patch layer.
