Acute rheumatic fever in adults
Thirty-one adults with acute rheumatic fever were identified at Groote Schuur Hospital over a 10-year period. In keeping with other series, arthritis was the most common major criterion.

Long‐term metformin use in T2DM patients undergoing TKA significantly reduced postoperative inflammation and pain. On postoperative day 3, CRP, IL‐6, ESR, D‐dimer levels and VAS scores were markedly lower in the metformin group, suggesting potential perioperative anti‐inflammatory and analgesic benefits.
