Project concept: Design concept of ad-hoc Information Network System for disaster mitigation

2013 International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI), 2013
We have gone through national crises caused by earthquakes and tsunamis. Through these experiences we have established advanced communication systems and advanced disaster medical response systems. However, Japan was devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred on March 11th, 2011.

Clustering concept and QoS constraints in dense mobile ad hoc networks

International Journal of Pervasive Computing and Communications, 2006
In mobile ad hoc networks, many routing protocols use broadcast mechanism to find route whereas one of the wireless network challenges is the bandwidth optimisation. This mechanism increases the control overhead and consumes bandwidth and energy. The overhead penalty increases with the density and the network size.

Ad Hoc Determination of Geographic Regions for Concept@Location Queries

2009
Textual geographic queries to search engines usually consist of the desired concept and also of one or more terms describing a location, which is often the name of a city, which in turn can usually be grounded with the help of a gazetteer. On other occasions, though, the location refers to a (vague) geographic region and may also be a vernacular ...

Conception and simulation of energy-efficient AODV protocol in ad hoc networks

Proceedings of the 3rd international conference on Mobile technology, applications & systems - Mobility '06, 2006
Ad Hoc wireless networks are power constrained since nodes operate with limited battery energy. To maximize the lifetime of these networks the residual energy in each mobile node must be very well managed and its use must be controlled such that the power dissipation rates of all nodes are nearly the same.

Usability of an opportunistic interface concept for ad hoc ride-sharing

International Journal of Cartography, 2016
Interacting with ride-sharing systems for ad hoc travel is a complex spatio-temporal task. The dynamics of service supply and demand challenge the rigidity of traditional human–computer interfaces, introducing service uncertainty and creating a knowledge gap which hinders a client's travel planning.

Ad Hoc MANET mobile networks and the integration of the Multihoming concept

2011 Saudi International Electronics, Communications and Photonics Conference (SIECPC), 2011
In the field of telecommunications, mobility represents new practical ways of communication that are known to be vaguely flexible in terms of use; for users expect to enjoy constant and good quality service. An attempt will be make; all along this file; to introduce the concept of Multihoming to mobile networks in order to increase their strength and ...

Networking Models in Flying Ad-Hoc Networks (FANETs): Concepts and Challenges

Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems, 2013
In recent years, the capabilities and roles of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have rapidly evolved, and their usage in military and civilian areas is extremely popular as a result of the advances in technology of robotic systems such as processors, sensors, communications, and networking technologies.

Building and Exploiting Ad Hoc Concept Hierarchies for Web Log Analysis

2002
Web usage mining aims at the discovery of interesting usage patterns from Web server log files. "Interestingness" relates to the business goals of the site owner. However, business goals refer to business objects rather than the page hits and script invocations recorded by the site server. Hence, Web usage analysis requires a preparatory mechanism that

Report of the AD Hoc Working Group in Innovative Mobility Concepts

1973
Abstract : During 17-20 October 1972, a workshop to identify, conceive and examine possible concepts and approaches for materially increasing the Army's ground mobility was held in Durham, North Carolina. The body of the report concentrates on the most significant ideas suggested by the Workshop.

Virtual circuit switching concept in ad-hoc networking.

2004
This thesis investigates issues of implementing virtual circuit switching in an ad–hoc network. Traditionally, an ad–hoc network uses datagram switching for transmitting a message which is many packets long. Two main challenges for implementing virtual circuit switching in an ad–hoc network are: (1) finding a medium access control (MAC) protocol that ...
