Amphibole plays a pivotal role in mediating the flux of volatiles and partial melting that ultimately contribute to arc magmatism. The influence of amphibole from the lower crust to the upper mantle remains unclear due to limited opportunities for ...

Slab Gap‐Related Intraplate Magmatism as a Proxy of Maximum Flat Slab Extent in Patagonia
Abstract Establishing the frontal extent of ancient flat subduction events from the geologic record can be challenging. This difficulty arises because magmatic activity in the arc typically ceases during complete slab flattening, and other meaningful proxies are usually absent. To address this issue, we examine early Paleocene intraplate magmatic units

Provenance Reassessment of Eocene Turbidites, New Caledonia: Inferences for Obduction Models
Abstract Provenance of pre‐obduction Eocene turbidites from New Caledonia is used to better constrain their geodynamic context and inform debate on subduction polarity. Chemical compositions of detrital clinopyroxenes in arenites are compared against potential sources.

Abstract The formation, storage, and evolution of granitic magmas are fundamental processes driving the growth of continental crust. While traditionally attributed to crystal fractionation in high‐melt fraction magma chambers, the model invoking low‐melt fraction crystal mushes has gained wide acceptance.

Tracing arclogites in the Paleoproterozoic Era - A shift from 1.88 Ga calc-alkaline to 1.86 Ga high-Nb and adakite-like magmatism in central Fennoscandian Shield [PDF]
Arclogites, i.e., lower crustal gamet-pyroxenite cumulates, are suggested to play an important role in controlling magma differentiation in modem continental arcs.

Is there a Grenvillian basement in the Guerrero-Morelos Platform of Mexico?
In the Guerrero-Morelos platform (Guerrero State, Mexico) the adakitic rocks of Early Tertiary age contain abundant hornblende-rich tonalite xenoliths. Zircon crystals have been concentrated from both adakites and xenoliths, and dated using in-situ U-Pb ...

Abstract The Zagros orogen records the closure of the Neotethys Ocean by northward subduction of the oceanic slab beneath the Iranian plate. Northwestern Iran has undergone episodic volcanism since the Eocene, due to a shift of tectonic regimes from subduction to collision and post‐collisional extension, although the dynamics responsible for such ...
