The effect of protease inhibitors on the induction of osteoarthritis-related biomarkers in bovine full-depth cartilage explants. [PDF]
The specific degradation of type II collagen and aggrecan by matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9, -13 and ADAMTS-4 and -5 (aggrecanase-1 and -2) in the cartilage matrix is a critical step in pathology of osteoarthritis (OA).

Affinity Proteomics‐Based Non‐Invasive Detection of Clinically Significant Liver Disease
Using UK Biobank proteomic data, we identified a five‐protein score reflecting hepatic stellate cell activation and hepatocellular injury that predicts major adverse liver outcomes and clinically significant fibrosis, with consistent performance validated in two independent cohorts (patients with HIV and alpha1‐antitrypsin deficiency).

Irreversible ECM proteolysis by remodeling enzymes shapes development, homeostasis, and disease. ECM‐degrading proteases display cell specificity and are governed by shared mechanisms, exhibiting functional redundancy in generating matrikines, growth factors, and cytokines.

ADAMTS-15 has a tumor suppressor role in prostate cancer
Extracellular matrix remodeling has emerged as an important factor in many cancers. Proteoglycans, including versican (VCAN), are regulated via cleavage by the proteolytic actions of A Disintegrin-like And Metalloproteinase domain with Thrombospondin-1 ...

Increased plasma von Willebrand factor antigen levels but normal von Willebrand factor cleaving protease (ADAMTS13) activity in preeclampsia. [PDF]
The activity of ADAMTS13, the von Willebrand factor (VWF) cleaving protease is low in several conditions, including HELLP (haemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count) syndrome.

Increased expressions of ADAMTS-13, neuronal nitric oxide synthase, and neurofilament correlate with severity of neuropathology in Border disease virus-infected small ruminants. [PDF]
Border Disease (BD), caused by Pestivirus from the family Flaviviridae, leads to serious reproductive losses and brain anomalies such as hydranencephaly and cerebellar hypoplasia in aborted fetuses and neonatal lambs.

A guide to the types, structures, and multifaceted functions of matrix metalloproteinases in cancer
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) orchestrate cancer progression and metastasis through proteolytic and non‐proteolytic actions. By remodeling the tumor microenvironment, enhancing growth factor availability, and modulating cell behavior, MMPs promote proliferation, migration or invasion, and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition. Alongside extracellular

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura in IgG4‐related disease with severe deficiency of ADAMTS‐13 activity and IgG4 autoantibody against ADAMTS‐13 [PDF]
IgG4-related disease is a recently recognized group characterized by elevated serum IgG4 levels and prominent lymphoplasmacytic infiltration of IgG4-positive cells into multiple organs (1). The condition was first described in relation to the pancreas (i.e., autoimmune pancreatitis [AIP] [2]), but since then many other inflammatory conditions ...

ADAMTS-3, -13, -16, and -19 levels in patients with habitual abortion
A disintegrin-like and metalloproteinase domain with thrombospondin-type 1 motifs (ADAMTS) protein superfamily includes 19 secreted metalloproteases. Proteolytic substrates of ADAMTS enzymes have been linked to reproductive function.
