Analysis and Design of a Position Observer With Resistance Adaptation for Synchronous Reluctance Motor Drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A back-electromotive-force-based reduced-order position observer with stator-resistance adaptation is analyzed for motion-sensorless synchronous reluctance motor (SyRM) drives.

Target Tracking Using Adaptive Gain Backstepping Control

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2010
A particular recent series of research studies on the problem of tracking/pursuiting moving targets has followed an approach based on artificial potentials and sliding mode control. In this paper we revisit this approach, and in an effort to suppress some input applicability issues in terms of high amplitude and chattering, we develop a backstepping ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Suboptimal eye movements for seeing fine details. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Human eyes are never stable, even during attempts of maintaining gaze on a visual target. Considering transient response characteristics of retinal ganglion cells, a certain amount of motion of the eyes is required to efficiently encode information and ...

Gain adaptation for continuous sliding mode control [PDF]

open access: yes2016 2nd International Conference on Control Science and Systems Engineering (ICCSSE), 2016
In this paper a novel adaptive sliding mode controller design is presented for robust control of nonlinear uncertain systems. A continuous control law to compensate for the uncertainties is first developed that is completely free from chattering. Focusing on the relation between the tried gain value and the resultant sliding variable, a new method for ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Subclinical Neck Pain Alters Gaze Stability During the Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex

open access: yesApplied Sciences
(1) Background: Subclinical neck pain is mild-to-moderate neck pain that has not yet been treated, and where individuals experience pain-free days. Alterations in sensorimotor integration, motor control, proprioception, and cerebellar inhibition have ...

Rapid dynamics of contrast responses in the cat primary visual cortex. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
The visual information we receive during natural vision changes rapidly and continuously. The visual system must adapt to the spatiotemporal contents of the environment in order to efficiently process the dynamic signals.

Population gene introgression and high genome plasticity for the zoonotic pathogen Streptococcus agalactiae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The influence that bacterial adaptation (or niche partitioning) within species has on gene spillover and transmission among bacteria populations occupying different niches is not well understood.

Effect of adaptive VOR gain changes on OKR gain control.

open access: yesNippon Jibiinkoka Gakkai Kaiho, 1988
