Item Selection and Ability Estimation in Adaptive Testing

2000
The last century saw a tremendous progression in the refinement and use of standardized linear tests. The first administered College Board exam occurred in 1901 and the first Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) was given in 1926. Since then, progressively more sophisticated standardized linear tests have been developed for a multitude of assessment ...

Adaptation Ability of Subjects with Different Refractive Errors

Optometry and Vision Science, 1989
ABSTRACT In previous studies we have shown that subjects with normal binocular vision adapt to prism‐induced heterophorias. In this study we have continued the work by investigating the adaptation ability of subjects with different refractive errors to horizontal prisms.

Adaptive Student Questioning and Students' Verbal Ability

The Journal of Experimental Education, 1994
Abstract The authors examined the relationship between fifth-grade students' verbal ability level and the adaptive nature of the questions that these students asked in attempting to find a correct synonym for vocabulary items. Questions were divided into necessary questions (questions posed after a wrong provisional answer) and unnecessary questions ...

Psychometric and Adaptive Abilities in Epilepsy with Differential Etiology

Epilepsy & Behavior, 1966
SUMMARYComparisons on an extensive battery of neuropsychological tests including the WAIS and Halstead's measures were made in the following four groups: (N = 51 in each group): 1, controls; 2, patients with verified brain damage but without epilepsy; 3, brain‐damaged patients with epilepsy matched for type of brain damage with the patients in Group 2;

An Efficient Adaptive Beamforming Techniquewith Pattern Control Ability

2006 6th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications, 2006
In this paper, we propose an iterative algorithm, which can achieve beampattern control and adaptive beamforming at the same time. Our proposed algorithm is computationally efficient because it avoids the calculation of matrix inverse which is often required by conventional beampattern synthesis algorithms.

Factors Influencing One's Ability to Adapt to Chronic Illness

Nursing Clinics of North America, 1987
The disease course in chronic illness may be subtle and accompanied by irreversible changes that have to be managed. Once the immediacy of the illness has been dealt with, the patient may face a future full of uncertainties related to illness recurrence, further disease progression, and perhaps even death.
