Abstract This paper proposes two anti-interference adaptive single-phase auto-reclosing (ASPAR) schemes for transmission lines with shunt reactors. This approach is based on faulty phase reactive power characteristics. Instantaneous power algorithm (IPA) is used to calculate the reactive power using voltage and current measurements at only one end of

A wavelet packet based method for adaptive single-pole auto-reclosing
Journal of Zhejiang University SCIENCE C, 2010We present a new algorithm for adaptive single-pole auto-reclosing of power transmission lines using wavelet packet transform. The db8 wavelet packet decomposes the faulted phase voltage waveform to obtain the coefficients of the nodes 257, 259 to 262. An index is then defined from the sum of the energy coefficients of these nodes.

Adaptive Comprehensive Auto-Reclosing Scheme for Shunt Reactor-Compensated Transmission Lines
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2019After a tripping of a transmission line, if the fault is transient, faulty arc may be extinguished in three different kind of periods: initial, middle and ending period. Existing adaptive auto-reclosing (AAR) schemes cannot cover all kind of situations, which seriously affects application of those AAR schemes.

High speed adaptive auto reclosing of 765 kV transmission lines
2012 11th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2012This paper proposes a new adaptive auto reclosing scheme for extra high voltage transmission lines. The performance of an auto reclosing scheme depends not only on power system behavior and transmission lines characteristic but also secondary arc current.

Design of an online adaptive auto-reclose algorithm for HV transmission lines
2006 IEEE Power India Conference, 2006This paper proposes an adaptive auto-reclose scheme for high voltage transmission lines. It presents application of wavelet transform in identification of transient and permanent faults by processing the fault generated high frequency voltage transients. It can also be utilised to determine adaptive reclosure time with capturing arc extinction time.

Adaptive auto-reclosing based on DER connectivity data with IEC 61850
2014 IEEE PES General Meeting | Conference & Exposition, 2014Most faults in the overhead distribution networks are temporary in nature. The protection system is therefore designed to open the line in an attempt to clear the fault and then automatically reclose to reconnect the circuit once the fault has cleared.

Abstract Protection of critical components in the power sector especially the transmission line system is very important to minimize loss of revenue, resources, and productivity. Improvement of power transfer capacity and voltage profile in smart the power grid is achieved by Series Compensation (SC).

Adaptive single pole auto-reclosing using discrete wavelet transform
European Transactions on Electrical Power, 2010This paper proposes a new algorithm for adaptive single pole auto-reclosing (SPAR) using discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The faulted phase voltage signal is captured at a sampling rate of 2.5 kHz. The sym8 wavelet function is used to decompose the signal into level 1 and to define an index function (INDF), which is obtained from the sum of absolute ...
