Speaker Adapted Beamforming for Multi-Channel Automatic Speech Recognition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
This paper presents, in the context of multi-channel ASR, a method to adapt a mask based, statistically optimal beamforming approach to a speaker of interest. The beamforming vector of the statistically optimal beamformer is computed by utilizing speech and noise masks, which are estimated by a neural network.

Energy-Efficient Deterministic Adaptive Beamforming Algorithms for Distributed Sensor/Relay Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
In this study, energy-efficient deterministic adaptive beamforming algorithms are proposed for distributed sensor/relay networks. Specifically, DBSA, D-QESA, D-QESA-E, and a hybrid algorithm, hybrid-QESA, that combines the benefits of both deterministic and random adaptive beamforming algorithms, are proposed. Rigorous convergence analyses are provided

The 2021 Mw8.1 Kermadec Megathrust Earthquake: An Event Rupturing the Slab‐Mantle Interface With Up‐Dip High‐Frequency Seismic Energy Radiation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 4, 28 February 2025.
Abstract Megathrust earthquakes often break the slab‐crust interface and radiate high‐frequency seismic waves from the down dip of their coseismic slip. In contrast, we show that the 2021 Mw8.1 Kermadec earthquake deviates from this mode. We resolve the kinematic rupture process of the event by leveraging finite fault inversions and a calibrated tele ...

Deep Learning‐Driven Modeling of Dynamic Acoustic Sensing in Biomimetic Soft‐Robotic Pinnae

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 6, Issue 1, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Biological function often depends on complex mechanisms of a dynamic, time‐variant nature. An example is certain bat species (horseshoe bats—Rhinolophidae) that use intricate pinna musculatures to execute a variety of pinna deformations. While prior work has indicated the potential significance of these motions for sensory information encoding,

Far-Field RF Wireless Power Transfer with Blind Adaptive Beamforming for Internet of Things Devices

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Wireless power transfer (WPT) has long been one of the main goals of Nikola Tesla, the forefather of electromagnetic applications. In this paper, we investigate radio-frequency beamforming in the radiative far field for WPT. First, an analytical model of

Adaptive Phase Rolling for Opportunistic Beamforming in OFDMA Systems with a Small Number of Users

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
The performance of opportunistic beamforming might be degraded if the number of users is small. This paper proposes an adaptive opportunistic beamforming technique for orthogonal frequency division multiple access systems, which can produce good results ...
