Adaptive beamforming for photoacoustic imaging [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2008
An adaptive photoacoustic image reconstruction technique that combines coherence factor (CF) weighting and the minimum variance (MV) method is introduced. The backprojection method is widely used to reconstruct photoacoustic tomography images. Owing to the scattering of light, the quality of the photoacoustic imaging can be degraded.

Connecting flying backhauls of unmanned aerial vehicles to enhance vehicular networks with fixed 5G NR infrastructure

open access: yesIET Smart Cities, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 239-254, December 2022., 2022
Abstract This paper investigates moving networks of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to extend connectivity and guarantee data rates in the 5G by analysing possible hovering locations based on limitations such as flight time and coverage. The authors provide analytic bounds on the requirements in terms of connectivity extension for vehicular networks served by

Neighborhood Singular Value Decomposition Filter and Application in Adaptive Beamforming for Coherent Plane-Wave Compounding

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Coherent plane-wave compounding (CPWC) is widely used in medical ultrasound imaging, in which plane-waves tilted at multiple angles are used to reconstruct ultrasound images. CPWC helps to achieve a balance between frame rate and image quality.

Fast Wideband Beamforming Using Convolutional Neural Network

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
With the wideband beamforming approaches, the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) could achieve high azimuth resolution and wide swath. However, the performance of conventional adaptive wideband time-domain beamforming is severely affected as the received ...

Communication, sensing, computing and energy harvesting in smart cities

open access: yesIET Smart Cities, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 265-274, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A smart city provides diverse services based on real‐time data obtained from different devices deployed in urban areas. These devices are largely battery‐powered and widely placed. Therefore, providing continuous energy to these devices and ensuring their efficient sensing and communications are critical for the wide deployment of smart cities.

Optimization scheme of partial discharge location of external insulation based on 2‐D multiple signal classification algorithm

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 17, Issue 1, Page 11-26, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Partial discharge (PD) localization is critical to ensure the safe operation of power equipment. In this paper, an optimization scheme is developed for PD positioning of external insulation equipment. The optimization scheme is based on an eight‐element cross sensor array to receive the ultrasonic signal generated by the PD, and uses the ...
