Strategic Adaptive Resilience Capacity
2022This chapter analyzes the adaptive resilience capacity as an organizational strategy. It is assumed that the development of organizational resilience capabilities can support the transformation and adaptation strategies aimed to enhance the socio ecosystem services.

Intrinsic emergence boosts adaptive capacity
Proceedings of the 7th annual conference on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2005The essential part of research about evolutionary algorithms or any optimisation algorithm in general is the discovery of mechanisms to improve the search, when the problem is characterized by a huge search space. Many metaheuristics and hybridisations of those algorithms are invented and compared with their capacity to traverse this search space in ...

Operationalising Adaptive Capacity
2012Drawing on the three earlier analytical steps, presented in Chaps. 10 and 11, this chapter explicates the process of developing more nuanced indicators of adaptive capacity from the original determinants presented in Part I. Thus, drawing on the original determinants discussed in Part I, together with both outcome assessments and the emergent themes in

Adaptive Capacity, Adaptive Governance and Resilience
2012Different challenges arising from increasingly uncertain and unpredictable hydro-climatic conditions have been accompanied by a shifting focus of water governance solutions. More recently, the water resources research community has paid increasingly close attention to climate change adaptation and adaptive processes in relation to water governance ...

Adaptive Capacity: Tensions across Scales
Environmental Policy and Governance, 2013ABSTRACTClimate variability and climate change impacts on hydrological conditions prescribe the need to better understand favourable conditions for developing and mobilising adaptive capacity. This paper presents new cases to the body of evidence on adaptive capacity in the context of institutional arrangements for water management.

Capacity improvement adaptive channel allocation
IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition. Communications for the Information Age, 2003Simulations show that adaptive channel allocation significantly increases the capacity of a system as compared to traditional fixed channel allocation. With 90 channels it is possible to carry 10 erlangs per cell, with a blocking of 2.4% at initial access, and with a neglectable number of calls lost during handover. This is estimated to be almost twice
