An Adaptive Importance Sampling Method Based on Improved MCMC Simulation for Structural Reliability Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Constructing an effective importance sampling density is crucial for structural reliability analysis via importance sampling (IS), particularly when dealing with performance functions that have multiple design points or disjoint failure domains.

Testing Convergence of Different Free-Energy Methods in a Simple Analytical System with Hidden Barriers

open access: yesComputation, 2018
In this work, we study the influence of hidden barriers on the convergence behavior of three free-energy calculation methods: well-tempered metadynamics (WTMD), adaptive-biasing forces (ABF), and on-the-fly parameterization (OTFP).

An Adaptive Importance Sampling Technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper proposes a new adaptive importance sampling (AIS) technique for approximate evaluation of multidimensional integrals. Whereas known AIS algorithms try to find a sampling density that is approximately proportional to the integrand, our algorithm aims directly at the minimization of the variance of the sample average estimate.

The MedSupport Multilevel Intervention to Enhance Support for Pediatric Medication Adherence: Development and Feasibility Testing

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction We developed MedSupport, a multilevel medication adherence intervention designed to address root barriers to medication adherence. This study sought to explore the feasibility and acceptability of the MedSupport intervention strategies to support a future full‐scale randomized controlled trial.

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Adaptive importance sampling in signal processing [PDF]

open access: yesDigital Signal Processing, 2015
In Bayesian signal processing, all the information about the unknowns of interest is contained in their posterior distributions. The unknowns can be parameters of a model, or a model and its parameters. In many important problems, these distributions are impossible to obtain in analytical form.

Predicting Chronicity in Children and Adolescents With Newly Diagnosed Immune Thrombocytopenia at the Timepoint of Diagnosis Using Machine Learning‐Based Approaches

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...
