In this paper, design principles of a delta modulator are discussed to arrive at the design parameters. For a sampling rate of 25 K/bits and reference frequency of speech at 1·12 KHz, the maximum signal to quantization noise ratio is found to be around 24 db.

Adaptive Spatial Scattering Modulation
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2021In this paper, two novel adaptive spatial scattering modulation (ASSM) algorithms, namely unequal transmission probability-based ASSM (UTP-ASSM) and equal transmission probability-based ASSM (ETP-ASSM), are proposed to pursue a better tradeoff between the computational complexity and spectral efficiency. According to available channel state information,

Adaptive Companded Pulse Code Modulation
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1983In this paper, a novel quantization scheme-adaptive companded pulse code modulation (ACPCM)-is proposed. It is shown that, for fine quantization of analog signals, ACPCM will outperform the widely used PCM and DPCM in the sense of minimizing the meansquared quantizing error. For autoregressive (AR)signals, ACPCM is shown to reduce to DPCM.

Reward modulates adaptations to conflict
Cognition, 2012Both cognitive conflict (e.g. Verguts & Notebaert, 2009) and reward signals (e.g. Waszak & Pholulamdeth, 2009) have been proposed to enhance task-relevant associations. Bringing these two notions together, we predicted that reward modulates conflict-based sequential adaptations in cognitive control.

Adaptive modulation in microwave networks
ELMAR 2007, 2007Since different types/levels of modulation have different spectral efficiency, gain of adaptive modulation has to be considered due to number of bits that are transmitted. We used model that has properties of white noise with probability of level occurence according to normal Gaussian distribution. In order to perform more exact calculation of the gain

Single-Integration, Adaptive Delta Modulation
Bell System Technical Journal, 1975An estimate of optimum performance is derived for a single-integration, adaptive delta modulator. Several simulations of adaptive delta modulators with single integrators have all produced signal-to-noise ratios near or below the estimate. The derivations presented here indicate that the performance of a single-integration delta modulator is dependent ...

Attention modulates auditory adaptation produced by amplitude modulation
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009The effect of attention on adaptation produced by amplitude modulation (AM) was examined. In different experimental conditions, listeners’ AM detection thresholds for a 2 kHz test tone were measured after exposing them to an adapting sound that was presented simultaneously with speech distractors.

Stochastic Learning Algorithms for Adaptive Modulation
2006 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speed and Signal Processing Proceedings, 2005Adaptive modulation has been widely studied as a means of increasing the capacity of wireless communications systems. In this paper, we present stochastic learning algorithms for the design of next-generation adaptive modulation systems. In the past, the design of adaptive modulation systems has relied on analytic and functional approximation ...
