Enhanced Visible Light Communication for Real-Time Audio With Interference-Resilient Protocols

open access: yesIEEE Access
Despite its potential for high-speed data transmission, visible light communication (VLC) technology faces significant challenges in achieving reliable real-time audio streaming due to interference, signal degradation, and synchronization issues.

Algorithm based on 2‐bit adaptive delta modulation and fractional linear prediction for Gaussian source coding

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, 2021
A novel 2‐bit adaptive delta modulation (ADM) algorithm is presented based on uniform scalar quantization and fractional linear prediction (FLP) for encoding the signals modelled by a Gaussian probability density function. The study focusses on two major

Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Adaptive Modulation for Underwater Acoustic Communication with Outdated Channel State Information

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Underwater acoustic (UWA) adaptive modulation (AM) requires feedback about channel state information (CSI) but the long propagation delays and time-varying features of UWA channels can cause the CSI feedback to be outdated.

Coded Adaptive Linear Precoded Discrete Multitone Over PLC Channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Discrete multitone modulation (DMT) systems exploit the capabilities of orthogonal subcarriers to cope efficiently with narrowband interference, high frequency attenuations and multipath fadings with the help of simple equalization filters.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

MODEL-BASED PREDICTIVE ADAPTIVE DELTA MODULATION [PDF]

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2007
Abstract This paper presents a new technique in digital communications, called model-based-predictive adaptive-delta-modulation (MBP-ADM). MBP-ADM uses system identification tools to identify a model of the signal which is used for prediction. The prediction helps the system to respond adaptively to a varying input signal, in order to achieve ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Adaptive Modulation Scheme for Soft-Switching Hybrid FSO/RF Links Based on Machine Learning

open access: yesPhotonics
A hybrid free-space optical (FSO) and radio frequency (RF) communication system has been considered an effective way to obtain a good trade-off between spectrum utilization efficiency and high-rate transmission.
