Adaptive control by observations

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1993
Abstract The problem of a guaranteed estimate [1,2] of an unknown finite-dimensional vector is considered. A method of formalizing the problem by the observation in Hilbert space is proposed. Using this formulation, it is shown that the solutions of the problems of programmed and adaptive control by the process of observation are identical. The paper

Observing with adaptive optics.

Adaptive Optics, 1996
The University of Hawaii adaptive optics (AO) group is now been using their AO system at the CFHT Cassegrain focus to make astronomical observations. Having spent large amounts of time reducing that data from these observing runs, we have developed procedures at the telescope to ensure good quality data whilst also attempting to reduce the observing ...

Adaptive critic based neuro-observer

Proceedings of the 2001 American Control Conference. (Cat. No.01CH37148), 2001
A new Neural Network (NN) based observer design method for nonlinear systems represented by nonlinear dynamics and linear/nonlinear measurement is proposed in this paper. In this new approach, as the first step, the observer design problem is changed into a 'controller' design problem by establishing the error dynamics, and then the Adaptive Critic (AC)

Adaptive observations for hurricane prediction

Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics, 2000
This study proposes a method that can be used to provide guidelines to aircraft reconnaissance for hurricane observations. The method combines numerical weather prediction (NWP) model with a statistical approach to target adaptive observations over areas where the hurricane predictions are very sensitive to the initial analysis for the NWP-model.

Some Observations on Adaptive Forecasting

Management Science, 1964
The procedure of “adaptive” or “exponential” forecasting is based on weighted averages of two sources of evidence; one is the latest evidence (the most recent observation), the other the value computed one period before. As such, it is an easy, quick and cheap method; very little information is needed for a forecast; also, the most recent information ...

Adaptive observer-based synchronization

1999
111An approach to the unidirectional synchronization based on the concept of adaptive observer is presented. A brief exposition of adaptive observer design for nonlinear systems by means of filtered transformations is given. For the important special case of synchronizing Lur'e systems, a simple adaptive observer structure is described and ...

REDUCED ORDER ADAPTIVE OBSERVER BACKSTEPPING

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002
Abstract It is the intent of this paper to add to, and improve the existing design tools for nonlinear output feedback systems. Considered here are systems, exhibiting parametric uncertainty, and containing nonlinearities dependent on the output alone.

Adaptive Filters and Observers

2016
In signal processing, as well as in other fields, it is always advisable to take advantage of all the ‘a priori’ knowledge available about the problem in hand. Part of this knowledge could be expressed with mathematical models. Just after the chapter introduction, the next section introduces the Wiener filter, which is based on linear estimation.

Adaptive Redesign of Nonlinear Observers

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2011
To estimate unmeasured states in dynamical systems with parametric uncertainties one can use adaptive observers. In this technical note a new method for adaptive redesign of reduced order observers for nonlinear systems is presented. The redesign makes the observer robust as it guarantees that the state estimation error converges to zero in the ...
