Optofluidic adaptive optics

Applied Optics, 2018
We introduce a transmissive refractive adaptive optics system featuring a deformable transparent optofluidic wavefront modulator and a sensorless wavefront error estimation algorithm. The wavefront modulator consists of a cavity filled with an optical liquid which is sealed by a deformable elastic polymer membrane.

Adaptive optical interconnection

Optics Letters, 1991
We explore the ability of a double phase-conjugate mirror to compensate for thermal, vibrational, and other environmental fluctuations. This property lends itself to the establishment and maintenance of bidirectional optical interconnections. We further introduce a bidirectional interconnection scheme that utilizes two wavelengths.

Adaptive optical processor

Applied Optics, 1982
The transversal filter is widely used in digital data processing. In this paper, we describe a method for using optically tapped, Bragg cell delay lines to implement a general adaptive linear prediction algorithm. Flexibility is achieved through changing the electronic signals.

Adaptive optical processors

Optics Letters, 1989
There are two different approaches for improving the accuracy of analog optical associative processors: postprocessing with a bimodal system and preprocessing with a preconditioner. These two approaches can be combined to develop an adaptive optical multiprocessor that can adjust the computational steps depending on the data and produce solutions of ...

Adaptive Optics Revisited

Science, 1990
From the earliest days and nights of telescopic astronomy, atmospheric turbulence has been a serious detriment to optical performance. The new technology of adaptive optics can overcome this problem by compensating for the wavefront distortion that results from turbulence.
