Optimal and adaptive control of aero-optical wavefronts for adaptive optics
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2012This paper compares two control methods to predict and correct aero-optical wavefronts derived from recent flight-test data. The first is an optimal linear time-invariant controller constructed from an identified state-space model of the turbulence flow.

Adaptation of adaptive optics systems
SPIE Proceedings, 1997The designs of existing Adaptive Optical System are "unadaptive" themselves, it means the parameters of the systems, such as subaperture diameter d, dynamic range of wavefront distortion correction, frequency bandwidth, etc., are fixed. Since these parameters were mainly decided according to some statistic values of atmospheric disturbance and detected

Adaptive control in an adaptive optics experiment
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2010This paper presents results from an adaptive optics experiment in which an adaptive control loop augments a classical adaptive optics feedback loop. Closed-loop wavefront errors measured by a self-referencing interferometer are fed back to the control loops, which drive a membrane deformable mirror to correct the wavefront.

Deep learning control model for adaptive optics systems.
Applied Optics, 2019To correct wavefront aberrations, commonly employing proportional-integral control in adaptive optics (AO) systems, the control process depends strictly on the response matrix of the deformable mirror.

The transversal filter is widely used in digital data processing. In this paper, we describe a method for using optically tapped, Bragg cell delay lines to implement a general adaptive linear prediction algorithm. Flexibility is achieved through changing the electronic signals.

There are two different approaches for improving the accuracy of analog optical associative processors: postprocessing with a bimodal system and preprocessing with a preconditioner. These two approaches can be combined to develop an adaptive optical multiprocessor that can adjust the computational steps depending on the data and produce solutions of ...

From the earliest days and nights of telescopic astronomy, atmospheric turbulence has been a serious detriment to optical performance. The new technology of adaptive optics can overcome this problem by compensating for the wavefront distortion that results from turbulence.

High Contrast Imaging for Python (HCIPy): an open-source adaptive optics and coronagraph simulator
Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation, 2018HCIPy is a package written in Python for simulating the interplay between wavefront control and coronagraphic systems. By defining an element which merges values/coefficients with its sampling grid/modal basis into a single object called Field, this ...

It has long been recognised that the optical quality of the human eye is far from diffraction limited. This affects our visual acuity and severely limits the resolution at which images of the living retina can be obtained. Adaptive optics is a technique that can correct for the eye's aberrations and provide diffraction limited resolution.
