Sparse calibration of an extreme Adaptive Optics system
49th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2010Adaptive optics systems are extensively used in astronomy to obtain high resolution pictures of stars and galaxies with ground telescopes. The crucial point is to shape deformable mirrors in order to compensate for the incoming wave distorted by the atmospheric turbulence. The calibration of the system is the cornerstone to obtain good performance. The

Dual-wavelength adaptive optical systems
Applied Optics, 1983A method for decomposition of phase difference error between measurements of atmospheric turbulence-induced phase distortion at two different wavelengths is described. Calculations are made of the phase difference errors in the first five Zernike radial modes for both ground-to-ground and ground-to-space transmission of laser radiation.

Adaptive output regulation of the adaptive optics system
Journal of Vibration and Control, 2022Deformable mirrors are very efficient optical devices that are used in correcting wavefront aberrations and are core elements of adaptive optics systems. Its promising success allows it to operate in a large field of applications. Hence, one of the most important problems in the control of adaptive optics systems is to design a controller that can ...

Discrete-Time Model of an Adaptive Optics System
2007 American Control Conference, 2007The standard adaptive optics system can be viewed as a sampled-data feedback system with a continuous-time disturbance (the incident wavefront from the observed object) and discrete-time measurement noise. A common measure of the performance of adaptive optics systems is the time average of the pupil variance of the residual wavefront. This performance

A Modular Adaptive Optics System
Adaptive Optics, 1996A modular, commercially available adaptive optics system is described. Appropriate for small laboratories exploring new applications of adaptive optics, the system combines advances in the construction of high speed computers and deformable mirrors to offer closed loop bandwidths of up to 50 Hz with 37 actuators of control.

Adaptive optics system simulator
Optics & Laser Technology, 2018Abstract In this paper we present the development of a computational tool that simulates the behavior of the basic devices in an adaptive optics system. These elements are a deformable mirror, a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor and a basic control system.

A simplified adaptive optics system
SPIE Proceedings, 2003Affordable adaptive optics on small telescopes allow to introduce the technology to a large community and provide opportunities to train new specialists in the field. We have developed a low order, low cost adaptive optics system for the 1.6m telescope of the Mont Megantic Observatory.

Control in Adaptive Optical Systems
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1989Abstract The first part of the paper deals with the problem of restoration of a continuous statement of the tracking problem m the class of functions of arbitrary smoothness when adaptive optical system with a modal phase corrector is observed on a discrete set of points.
